FSRC RESOLUTION RUN #3

Ft Steilacoom – March 7, 2026
To say the weather in Washington is fickle is an understatement. Last Sunday proved no exception. Overall, it was a pretty decent day for a race. Slight drizzle and mist gave way to sunshine with the occasional cloud cover. The course was clear and fast. I’m still trying to rebuild my stamina and leg strength so I adopted a form of Jeffing, doing my own version of his Run/Walk strategy. As I approached the last straightaway to the finish line my playlist gifted me with WPOD by The Tubes (very upbeat song, IYKYK) which gave me a burst of adrenaline for a sprint finish. I didn’t break the 1:10:00 goal time I had set for myself but it was definitely an improvement over the previous couple of races.
This day’s events included three distances; 5k, 10k and 20k. This was 1, 2 or 4 laps around the course. This was the final race for the Series and for the 5k series, 10k Series and the Progression Series (10k, 15k, 20k). There were an even 100 runners in the 5k, 41 in the 10k and 32 finishers in the 20k. 40% were Silver Striders. The first male Silver Strider in the 5k was Chris Fisher (20:09) and the first female Silver Strider was Jodie Bolt (23:48). For the 10k the first male Silver Strider was Brian Babbit (44:25) and the first female Silver Strider was Barbara Prine (1:08:31). In the 20k the first male Silver Strider was Chad Marsh (1:24:19) and the first female Silver Strider was Amanda Hoskins (1:35:23).

Jerry’s notes: This Race Report by Karl Johnson is his 3rd so far this year. He continues to be out top contributor following his record breaking 19 race reports last year. Our previous top reporter was Karen Lichtenstein who contributed 16 articles during Covid. What a great showing by the Silver Striders at this race. The group photo with 34 runners was the largest of 2026 so far. The Runderland 5k photo was our largest last year with 46 Striders. Chris Fisher had the distinction of being the only triple “first Silver Strider”, by scoring first at all three Resolution 5k’s.
