The Godfather 5k

The turnout was low but the enthusiasm was high at the Godfather 5k on a beautiful Sunday morning. Some of the registered runner failed to show up and they missed one of the fun races of the year.

The highlight of the competition was the overall winner Kristen Tollefson. Kristen tamed the hilly course in 24:11 besting first male, Brent White by exactly by one minute.

Karl Johnson retained the lead for men in competition for Mr. Grand Prix 2025, by Running the Kraken 5k on Saturday and The Godfather 5k on Sunday. Karl has completed 24 of the series races. On the women’s side Judy Fisher leads the Ms. Grand Prix competition. She also has completed 24 Races.

Karl’s Corner

“Don Karl” here, reporting on da inaugural Godfather 5k.

This was a race I couldn’t refuse. I love the Godfather movies so I couldn’t pass this one up. It was a small intimate turnout on the usual 3k course, just a little bit longer. There were some great drawing prizes after as well. I ended up “leavin’ da gun and takin’ da cannoli.” And, man, was that a tasty cannoli! Afterwards a few of us gathered at Moctezuma’s for lunch. A great time and another beautiful day for a race.

Clemenza: “Hey Paulie, ya got dem quotes I was asking for yet?”
Paulie: “What’s dat? Like “people in stucco houses shouldn’t throw quiche.”
Clemenza: “What’s dat s’posed ta mean?”
Paulie: “Man, it’s so hot you could fry an egg on my face.”
Clemenza: “Where you getting’ dese quotes? I said get something suitable for “Don Karl”, not Don Johnson, ya mook!
Paulie: “Ok, how ‘bout something for Don Karl E #1 then? Like “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer”.
Clemanza: “Ok, that’s much better. Even goes with the racing theme. Makes for more dramatic finishes when you’re racing to the line. I like it”.
