February 21, 2026 – Tacoma
The Super Athlete’s Award Party was held at the Olde Spaghetti Factory in Tacoma.

I called the proceedings to order at a few minutes past noon. I introduced myself and John Phillips the Sponsor of the Super Athlete program.
Next I introduced Bruce Fisher, creator of the Silver Strider Calendar. Bruce is the Silver Strider graphic artist and photographer of all our events. The program chairman, Michael Magnussen was absent, as were our TOP IO Chairmen except for Kent Sizer, the TOP IO Marathon Chairman. I introduced Kent and the others present who worked on the party. Diane Martin, the party Chairperson had to leave early, but not before she made sure everything was in order. Others who contributed were introduced. They were Brent White, Nancy Larsen and Larry Larsen. Nancy gave customized Hershey Bars to everyone present.

We took a break for lunch and some socializing. Everyone was busy conversing so I let the break go on for over an hour since we had no time pressure. I utilized the time to eat lunch and check my script.
When I called the meeting to order I told a joke. The joke didn’t go over very well so I had to fall back on my “Jack Benny buying a suit” skit.
Next, I mentioned the super Athlete contenders who missed qualifying but contended by making the TOP IO in 3 of the 4 required distances. I gave honorable mention to Barbara Prine who narrowly missed her ring this year being knocked off of the Half marathon list in the final December listing.
Our first ring was presented posthumously to Jahna Prine, who died in a household accident a few weeks earlier. Accepting the ring was Joyce Prine, Jahna’s surviving spouse and Jahna’s sister, Barbara Prine. It was Jahna’s 4th super Athlete ring.

The next ring went to Dennis Zaborac. Dennis finished with consistent rankings of, #4 at 3k, #2 at 5k, #3 at 10k and #6 at the Half Marathon. Since we had plenty of time I asked Dennis for his plans for 2026. He had a chance to tell us his plans which included taking a group on their annual trip to Viet Nam for the DaNang Marathon.
Our next ring went to Kent Sizer, receiving his 5th. Kent missed a gold ring by a whisker. He finished #1 at 3k, #1 at 5k, #1 at 10k and unfortunately missed his gold ring by finishing #2 At the Half Marathon. Kent had been sidelined for 3 or 4 months with an injury and I asked him about his recovery. Kent said his injury was responding to treatment and he expected to be back in form during 2026.
At this point we had a drawing for a $50 gift certificate to Fleet Feet in Tacoma. The winner was Keith Lerew.
Our next Super Athlete was John Phillips. John was receiving the 5th ring. He finished 2025 ranked #2 at 3k, #3 at 5k, #2 at 10k and #2 at the Half Marathon. Three #2’s and one #3, was near gold ring country. John talked about his injury and how his recovery has been going well.
Our next Super Athlete was Keith Lerew. Keith was receiving is 5th ring also. He has two gold rings from 2023 and 2024. He missed his third gold for 2025, due to injures. Keith was happy to report he has recovered and was running well again in 2026. His rankings for 2025 were #1 at 3k, #3 at 5k, #3 at 10k and #2 at The Half Marathon.
Our final Super Athlete at the party was Judy Fisher. Judy was receiving her 8th ring. After receiving her ring I announced that the ring was her 8th. She now had 2 gold and 6 silver. Judy barely missed a gold ring in 2025. She finished the year ranked #1 at 3K, #1 at 5k, #1at 5k and #3 at the Half Marathon. Judy made a few remarks about her plans to run in 2026.

That concluded our awards Party for 2025. All present were asked to gather in front of the restaurant for a group photo.
