June 28, 2025 – Lake Wilderness
One of the favorite races in the Silver Strider Series is the Bear Run. The start/finish setting is in beautiful Lake Wilderness Park next to the water. The race is a family tradition with a large turnout of children of all ages.
The race course circles the lake. It has a couple of significant hills, one early on and a second one about halfway. Mile three is the best part of the course being very slightly downhill.
The Silver Strider turnout was large and there were several notable efforts. Brent White, Chris Fisher, May Elcock, and Marsha Murray became the latest series finishers by chalking up their 8th series race for 2025.

To encourage youth participation, entry into the race was free to all kids 12 and under. Proceeds from the Bear Run will benefit Tahoma High School distance running programs administered by the Tahoma Cross Country Running Club. The funds fill a wide range of needs for our large team of athletes including support for athletes and families who need help with team participation and summer camp fees, multiple scholarships awarded each year, and travel expenses beyond that available from the school district budget. These kids work hard and run hard all year while maintaining exceptional grade point averages. They deserve our support!
