Magnussen Edges Fisher for 5k Silver Strider Championship

It was another perfect weather day for racing in Washington. Runners were trickling in as I set up our table for the Silver Strider 5 Championship. It was good to see so many familiar faces gathered together in the spirit of competition. It was a well-attended event for the Silver Striders with 38% of the runners being 50 and over.
The competition between Michael Magnussen and Chris Fisher in the 55-59 age group continued this week. Last week Michael prevailed on the downhill Independence Day 5k by 12 seconds. This week on the flat and fast Kent Cornucopia 5k course Michael edged out Chris at the finish by just 3.5 seconds with a time of 19:25. Amanda Hoskins turned in a spectacular performance to take home the trophy for the 1st Female Silver Strider with a time of 22:40.
Afterwards, several of us gathered at Azteca Mexican Restaurant in Tukwila for our Camaraderie Brunch.
