I feel like I am getting repetitive talking about the great weather we are having for races, but it is continuing to be just perfect running weather. Last weekend did not disappoint. Slightly cool at the start but blue skies and warm sun prevailed for a beautiful fall day.
This is a very pretty out and back course along the White River in Auburn. Starting at Roegner Park the course goes north for a mile and a half and then back to the start. Some slight rolling hills along the way, but otherwise a fast course. Chris Fisher continued his winning ways with a strong performance. He cut a minute off his time from last year to be the first male Silver Strider with a time of 20:08. The first female Silver Strider was Rebekah Olson with a time of 26:09. It was a strong showing for Silver Striders as 59 of the 193 runners were 50+ years old. That’s over 30% of the participants.
Following the race there was a drawing for some pretty nice prizes. Afterwards several of us gathered at Oddfellas Pub and Eatery in Auburn to regale each other with stories glory both past and present.
