The Godfather 5k

“An offer you can’t refuse.”

“Silver Strider magazine is planning a new and exciting 5k race to be held on October 5th. There has never been anything like it. A brand new 5k race, on a brand new course on the Cushman Trail in Gig Harbor. “The Godfather 5k” will follow the movie theme and it will feature unique drawings and unique awards. Field is limited to 50 entrants over 50 years of age. Registration deadline is Sept 5th or when cap is reached.

Five year age groups will be offered from 50 to 99. The top three in each age group will be awarded a unique Horse’s Head Trophy.

The drawing will include a non-operational replica of Rocco’s gun he used to shoot Paulie.
It will be mounted on a plaque with a engraved plate explaining it’s significance.

Included in the drawing Is the complete DVD Godfather movie collection.

Also included in the drawing will be 3 ice chests, each containing four freshly baked large cannoli refrigerated with ice packs.

The drawing winner will have a choice to “Leave the gun and bring the cannoli” or, “Leave the cannoli and bring the gun.”

An additional drawing item is a wooden hanger like the Sicilian assassin Busseta used to strangle Johnny Ola. A $50 gift certificate to Route 16 Running is attached.

Also, there will be three additional gift certificates for $50 each to Route 16 running store located in Gig Harbor on the same street as the start/finish line.

Directions to the Godfather 5k Start/Finish
Directions from Tacoma. Enter the Narrows bridge in the right lane. Changing lanes on the bridge is forbidden and you want to take the first exit which is immediate. Turn right at the end of the off ramp. Then turn left on 14th. Go past 29th St for about 2 blocks. Watch for the trailhead on the left.
Directions when approaching Gig Harbor from the north. Take Willochet off ramp and turn left. Go two blocks to the 2nd light (Kimball St.) and turn right. Follow the yellow line for about 4 miles. The street will twist and turn, changing name 4 times, but the yellow line will take you to the trailhead on 14th St. just past 32nd street on your right.
