Will Run For Ice Cream

I could get used to this weather for running. Not too hot, not too cold. As Goldilocks would put it, “It’s just right.”

I’m also getting used to Run For Good’s new course for Seward Park. Although I am not bothered by the hill, it is nice to have a flat course. It is also an added bonus to have Washington Blvd closed down for bicyclists. We could run in the street and not have to contend with the roots growing through the sidewalk as much. Definitely more “family friendly” as well. This race is popular for families, and ice cream lovin’ seniors with 4 flavors to choose from and a host of toppings. Just over 19% of the runners were 50 and over.

In the 5k the first male Silver Strider was Frank Hong with a time of 21:40 and the first female Silver Strider was Nancy Harsch with a time of 24:00. For the 10k the first male Silver Strider was Steve Husko with a time of 54:01 and the first female Silver Strider was Sarah Vanston with a time of 50:10.

Afterwards several of us gathered at Geraldines for brunch. A very busy and popular place for brunch on a Sunday. It was worth the wait as the food was delicious.
