The Run Scared 5k, 10k and 2 mile

By The day started rather ominously. When I first looked out the window at 6am it was raining heavily. This did not bode well. I planned accordingly by packing along a change of clothes. The rain, though, stopped before I left the house and didn’t start back up again until the end of the awards ceremony. The wind, however, was more concerning but even that eased up for the race.

The Silver Strider contingent was well represented. Several of our Series regulars, including yours truly, were age group winners. I barely nudged out Ken Peper for the 65-69 age group win in the 5k.

832 runners made for a slightly congested course, especially at the start. This is a great family event with lots of children and plenty of people in costumes. Myself, while not exactly in costume, did resemble a road flare. There were also several booths to visit, my favorite being the Candy Corn tasting bar. Don’t judge me.

Afterwards some of us convened at the Blu Water Bistro for food and fellowship. All in all, despite the cold start, a good time was had by all.

They don’t look scared, just hungry
