The 2024 Silver Strider Grand Prix Series is up and running. The first race on the schedule was the Des Moines ParkRun 5k. The turnout was good considering the rainy weather.

Points are given for your finish position within your age group for each race you complete. 1st=10 points,  x2nd= 9 points,  x3rd= 8 points,  x4th= 7 points,  x5th or lower= 6 points.

If you change age groups during the year, it’s okay. You bring your points with you into your new age group. Your final age group is the age group you are in on December 28, 2024.

If you complete eight races or less, they all count, but you need 8 races to be a finisher. If you do more than 8, only the 8 highest scores count. A perfect score is 80 points. In case of a tie in points, the runner with the most races wins. If race numbers are the same then the oldest runner wins.

Awards will be given out to all Series finishers. Completing 8 or more races qualifies you as a Series finisher. To make it easier for everyone 8 of the races in the Series have a -0- entry fee (9 races if you are over 60).

Participation! That’s our goal. We want a record number of finishers. Running or walking, fast or slow, we want you to join us. We only require that you be 50 years of age or older before December 31, 2024.

Here are the updated standings. Check the update. Remember, only your best 8 races count. If I have you in the wrong age group, let me know at: [email protected]

Symbols are:
(F)= finisher
(W)= age group winner

80= perfect score
