Twas a dark and stormy night … Uh, wait, no. That’s not quite right. Lets start again.

Twas a dark and stormy morning … Well, it wasn’t really dark, just overcast. And maybe not so much stormy as an off and on drizzle. Ok, I think I got it.

Twas a typical Saturday morning in the Pacific Northwet. The off and on drizzle slightly dampened our clothes, but not our spirits. 81 people gathered for the final parkrun of 2024, about a third of them Silver Striders. This was the final event for the Silver Strider Grand Prix series of 2024.

Chris Fisher was the first Silver Strider to finish with a time of 21:07. Maryellen Elcock was the first female Silver Strider to finish with a time of 31:17.

The course was soggy with a few puddles to navigate around but overall pretty clear. Keith Lerew was running with his grandson allowing me a rare opportunity to actually come in first in my age group. His grandson was looking pretty fast so I see some stiff competition for future Silver Striders.
