April 15, 2013 – Boston…..    Silver Strider, Bill Iffrig from Washington is knocked off his feet just a few yards before finishing the Boston Marathon. A terrorist bomb didn’t deter Bill who rose up and finished to win his age group.
10 years earlier, Maurice Tarrant of Canada (left) and Jerry Dietrich of the U.S.A. finished 1, 2, at the Victoria Half Marathon in the 75-79 Age Group. In 2019 they met again, now in the 85-89 Age Group, with the same result.

1979 – Silver Strider Jimmy Carter, 55, (wearing headband) runs 10k in about 41 min. On March 23, 2019, at age 94, Jimmy became the longest-living president in U.S. history. He currently walks 2 miles every day.

Emile Zatopec, the greatest distance runner of all time, performed a miracle at the 1956 Olympic Games. He won both his heats and the final at 5,000 meters. He won his heat and the final at 10,000 meters. He capped things off by winning the marathon completing a feat unmatched in history.
